WhatIsItApp app for iPhone and iPad

Whatisit? is a mobile phone application which enables users to receive information about tourist attractions, restaurants, lodges, gift shops, activities and services. Information displayed include a description, photograph, map, contact details and audio file with voice narration or advertisement.
Information currently available is for visitors to Mpumalanga, South Africa, with additional information and destinations added daily. The application is being used by the well established tourism destination at Sudwala, to provide information to visitors about the various pre-historic animal models on display at the pre-historic life museum. Included is information about the Sudwala area generally, local folklore, interesting geological features, local rivers, history and accommodation and restaurant options.
Users can enable a ‘audio guide’ which allows the application to automatically download and play a GPS activated description of the relevant tourist attraction as it is being approached or passed. This feature changes the mobile phone into a audio based ‘personal tour guide’, with access to additional information and contact details.
